We did it!!! As promised, the Gameophiles crew gathered for a lengthy dialogue about one of the most anticipated games of the year and it does not disappoint. After playing the game, take a listen and tell us what you think. As an added bonus we included a discussion on the future of AAA video game titles, all for free! We’re new and improved with new mics for better quality. Shout out to soundtrack composer by Garry Schyman and Nico Vega for the tunes you hear in the intro and background. *Spoilers abound*

PS we use a soundboard audio clip in the beginning to notify each other when we have gone over our allotted time. Can you identify the movie and character in the sound clip?

PPS Count how many times Shawn mentions Cliffy B.

Episode 11: Video Game to Movie Adaptation: Double Dragon

doubledragonposterWe watched Double Dragon the movie!!! Spoiler Alert! It’s utter garbage. We did this  in a vain attempt to answer to the age old riddle: “why can’t Hollywood successfully adapt a video game to movie.” What follows is a rather interesting analysis of the movie and it’s genre. We also debate whether or not a video game should be a movie, what would make a good adaptation, and why these adaptations fail in the first place. If you love movies and video games and if you were ever disappointed when you saw these two mediums collide, then this is the podcast for you!

This episode is meant to be one of many in an ongoing series where we watch, then discuss a movie adaptation of a popular video game. We will continue to this series from time to time. Future studies include: Max Payne, Hitman, Silent Hill, Mortal Kombat, etc. As always we are welcome to other movie ideas.

Keep Rubbin’ it!!!!
